Question.....2.3 pinto motor.
I have a 31 ford coupe that's running a mid 70's motor....around a 73-74 2.3 pinto engine.....it had it in there when I bought the coupe.
My question is........this motor does not have a oil filter!!!. Did ford ever make some without filters. Iv'e never seen one without one. I'm not a pinto type guy...and haven't really worked on many. But does anyone have any info.If I go to sleep........The clown's will eat me!!
Hmmmm.......24 hour's in a day......24 beer's in a case. Coincidence?..... I think not!.

Don't recall ever seeing one without an oil filter.....think I'd be putting one on it. What the heck did they do to eliminate it?Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Yep D, pretty sure someone eliminated yours, maybe for clearance. I found a part number for what a typical one is for Pintos.

Thanks Don for the info........but there's none to be found on it. No real biggie I guess........just more oil changes in my future I guess!!.
Which is a better thing for the motor. If I go to sleep........The clown's will eat me!!

Inquiring minds want to know............if there is no filter, what did they do to block it off??? Must be SOMETHING there.

"D" don't run it, sell it as a one of a kind mysterious self cleaning engine; no need for filters. Seriously, there has to be a boss built into the block for the filter or adapter. We all would be curious to see a pic of that area of your block so it's easier to figure out what the heck happened. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

Yep, I don't think any car engine has been made without a filter since the '30's or '40's. *** There has to be a boss or something there.
Don
*** Ok, the VW Beetle didn't have a true filter, just a screen, but I can't think of another one.

what about the 50s buicks with the optional oil filter system? you could run no filter, or run a filter, or even use a roll of toilet paper as your filterjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

hmm, it is a hotrod, so how about lowering the compression, and add a correctly sized turbo, from a 2.3 thunder bird turbocoupe, it will bolt up, then, add an external oil line, from the preassure sender, and add an external dual filter setup, with a cooler. should be able to crank 300 hp fairly easy, at half the weight of a 302. OH, ph8a I think is the oil filter in Fram, for a normal 2.3You don't know what you've got til it's gone
