Chevy 350ci into Pontiac- HELP
Hi guys,
I'm trying to put a Chevy 350ci in a 1979 Firebird originally a V8 301ci car. Does the Pontaic have different motor mounts on the frame and/or engine?
It looks like the chevy uses a diff. spot for the motor mounts on the car frame. The engine just will not drop in- it seems to far forward, even when the trans dipstick is on the firewall, relative to the engine mounts on the frame. I have the factory Firebird engine mounts on the frame and the factory Chevy mounts on the engine. Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated. I already rented the engine hoist....Last edited by MT79; 08-26-2007 at 12:17 AM.

Yup, helped a friend do the same swap on an '80 Bird. When you get into the wiring you'll find the battery and alternator are on the wrong side, too. The battery tray can be moved to the other side on the radiator support, the bolt holes are already there. On Bill's Bird I just extended the wiring harness for the alternator.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Do you know the size of the front tires on that Firebird?
