    Hyd. roller cam blocks

I'm curious about the chevy engines that came with hyd. roller cam from the factory. Did they all come with electric fuel pump or did some have mech. fuel pump? Can a mech fuel pump be retro. fitted to one of these blocks? Just thinking of my next salvage yard trip and what to look for.

I think most of the roller motors were fuel injected, so they would have an in-tank fuel pump. However, the fuel pump boss is still there, and is blocked off with a plate. If you have a cam with a fuel pump eccentric, a mechanical would work. My ZZ430 clone has the fuel pump boss.

To add to Jack's reply some had no plate but had provisions to machine for a pump. Tell us what you see or the year of the block. It wouldn't hurt to consider an electric pump for carburation. Very late models did not have an eccentric as Jack was going with on his post. A year of motor would help tell whether or not it's equipped to handle the mechanical pump part of your question.
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

The block is drilled 1/32 under 1/2 nearly all the through except last 1/8". I just finsh drill it out and ream it to 1/2" then you can use mechiancal fuel pump.
