Whats the word on the power plus intakes?

I know a few years ago when they first came out the got a real bad wrap as cheap copies. Will I know they are still cheaper copies but has anyone ran on a dyno? Whats the quality like? Are they worth the money? Thanks

the intakes look real good, but if i were atempting to get 600 horses into a vega, i would go with an already proven set up. i would use a company that matches thier intakes to trier heads, like a brodix intake with a set of brodix heads. or dart on dart, edelbrock on edelbrock. these companies designed thier heads and intakes as a unit. sure they are probably very close to one another, but when you are buying power you might as well buy what was mated together as a unit.

Well, they're a copy of an existing intake...How good a copy, who knows??? If I were trying to go fast in a drag car powered by a small block, don't think the intake is one of the places I would try to save money.... The copies are probably fine on the street, but like Mooneyes I'd go with the proven products for a drag car...

Depends on who you ask.................if you ask Vic Edelbrock you might have blisters in your ears! They are the reason all of his manifolds now have a big "Made in USA" sticker on them.

I'd say they would be fine for a street driven car, for higher demand engine app it's a personal call. They've apparently done very well in the knock off world, and have expanded their line of products to dampers, fuel filters and so on. They had an impressive display at SEMA.

I'm running one on the 350 vortec in my T. Bought it from a vendor at last years Turkey Run, and I couldn't pass up the price (something like $ 120) Seems fine so far, it fit fine and the car runs ( ) But if I were looking for real performance I would probably go with one of the old names, as the others have said.

What is funny is that there is a little molded in pad on the intake where it looks like some name was machined off. Made me wonder who else they are building these for.

I would imagine there's one foundry kicking them out for a bunch of the different import names. I know they're not making them for Vic Edelbrock, he's really proud of his foundry!!!!!!!

Thats the part I dont get though. Every one says they are cheap no good copies, BUT if its a copy down to the pad for the name shouldn't everything thing else be the same as the name brand?????? I was reading that this brand came out due to some one else letting their patent run out, dont know how true this is though. It also said that the intake are made with USA material but are manufactured else where. I know they have been out for a few years now ,I wonder if they have perfected their copy? I am all 100% for USA brand but also dont like being gouged just for some ones name....... If its a copy then all things should be identical except one has Eddies name and the other doesnt. I am 90 % for a name brand intake then see the price and then theres the 10% that says HMMMM just for the name.... Some of you guys wont like this but I also bought some fabricated valve covers (e-pay)and for the EXACT same pieces minus the NAME the price was 80 dollars as compared to 250-350 dollars for a name.

I was looking at the hurricane intake for sbc . I am sure some one has ran on a dyno.

    Ports

The biggest problem we have seen is the port alignment is off a long ways.
If you have to correct this problem then you where money ahead buying the Edelbrock intake.

I used the Performer RPM copy on my sons truck and it seems to do great. I think we paid $140 for the polished version.

Well in their notes they state that extra material is left for you to port to what ever you need. Is this what you are talking about? I am sure I am going to go with a name brand ,but for some thing that will be ported extinsively maybe its not such a bad idea. All the edelbrocks and holleys I have purchased in the past have needed a lot of porting also. I would still like to see if any one has compared "identical" intakes to see what they came up with.

GASSER I like that intake but I think I need the power band to start some where closer to 3000-3500. Do you think it will work?

I agree 100% you should definitely not go wrong with matched parts.
