I would say go with one of the 70s Qjets . The biggest problem is the choke set up . You may have to buy one of the auto store manual choke kits with the cable . And the linkage set up on the pontiac carb has a pin type . You may have to replace it with the ball type . Take the # off the side of your carb . Go to your local auto store and pick up a renew kit and a can of carb cleaner . I also am using a rebuilt 1970 Chevy Q Jet on one of my budget 350s .

There is nothing wrong with running a Q-jet, I have run them on anything from a V6 to 454, they will support 500 hp, or as small as you want. There is some things you should do to them to prevent problems with them. A Q-Jet will only give the motor what it wants. Get a newer one that has a electric choke, (but not one for a car with a computor, 80's) it will be a emissions carb, but it will be great on any V6.
