    Tolerances?

This may be a dumb question, but when I've built engines, I've used the tolerances in the Haynes manual for assembly. What do you guys recommend on this subject? I figured Haynes may be alright for a stock rebuild, but if going more hot-roddish should you have different clearances?
    I ain't dumb, I just ain't been showed a whole lot!
