sbc oil pressure tap
Is there an oil pressure tap above the filter on a sbc? I only know about the one on top of the block at the rear. I was told that the one above the filter is staright off the pump discharge.

One other "small" point is that the pump discharge goes to the main then rod bearings first. Either you misunderstood that person, or you may want to be careful about believing what they tell you.
Some gauge manufacturers don't recommend using the port above the filter because it may cause erratic gauge readings due to it's proximity to pressure relief valve in the filter. It's pretty much inconsequential, but since most people don't understand what's going on there they either worry about their engine or get unduly ticked at the gauge.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
