That was going to be my question? Unless you have a hole in the piston, is it possible it was left out?

I suspect that the push rod was either pulled out by mudbog or, gad, left out!!

Did the adjustment back off - or - are two cam lobes now no longer lobe shaped but wheel shaped??? Common occurrence with some 350CI '70s - '80s Chebbies. The fact that the zinc that helped lubrication of camshafts is no longer an oil additive has to make it worse. Only some diesel oils and Amsoil have a zinc additive now.

Hey Denny!....let's sell him some AFR220 heads and a ridiculous camshaft and a huge carb and then work our way down to an expensive tranny, deep gears, and high stall converter. Granted, it won't solve his problem, but it will make us fit in like the rest of the group.....sorry Mudbog, just had to throw a hump day attitude in there....

Oh, let's not stop there yet. How about a new Merlin block, wider bore spacing for huge bores. Clearance that bad boy for huge amounts of stroke and then assure him it's a street driven car that's capable of 30 miles to the gallon no matter how it's driven.....

Well didn't notice the missing orange paint till Denny pointed it out

Haven't took the manifold off yet to start looking for my missing pushrod.

I went for a little cruise on Saturday and then towards the end of the ride I started getting a pretty loud tapping noise, so I drove home and figured I would look into it later. So today I pulled the valve cover off to make sure there were no loose rocker arms or anything and BAM thats what I see, but I had to get to work so I just stuck the valve cover on for now until I get some time to tear into it.

The pushrod is somewhere in the motor ,probably be looking for it this weekend

That other pushrod at the bottom of the picture looks like it has been rubbing too, the center looks turned down somewhat where the paint is missing. Dumb question, how did orange paint get on your valvetrain? That's detailing to the max!!

I'll post up what I do find on it though...or where I find the missing magical pushrod
