Not much to go on there....A picture would help... Is it rich at idle or while driving... as for the vacuum, there are two sources on the carb, one ported and one full. The full vacuum is the port below the throttle blades, the ported is above the throttle blades... I would connect the vacuum advance off the distributor to the full vacuum port (the lower one) on the carb.

What kind of car, what engine, what is your timing at, etc????
