    hydrogen machine? :)

has any one heard of this thing you can build that creates a hydrogen gas or "hho" that you just route into an intake and jet appropriately to automatically get 2 to 3x more mileage, does it work? or is it a scam?

Just saw that on Mythbusters the other day and they figured it was bunk. They also added the acetone to gas and got worse milage. Tested a few other ideas and all failed.

Check out Lindsey Publications Inc. If you Google it, it will come upwith their site. These people have a lot of old information that you can't find anywhere else, along with some off beat newer stuff. And they have books available on the hydrogen subject, I bought a couple of them myself. Sniper

The kits that they are selling may not do what they are supposed to do, but a couple of big time Euro mfgrs are looking to introduce their own breed of hydrogen cars soon. One is BMW and the other is Mercedes. I suspect neither one will be as cheap as the conversion kits. But I suspect they actually might work.

Gotta ask...what ever happened to the "tests" in the hydrogen thread in May (see Tech's link above) that were going to disprove the naysayers? Is the "testing" still underway or is the hydrogen generator still being built?

I did not repost any info on this any longer for the simple fact that I did not want to hear any more negative responses from people who cant accept that it could work. So here is one update and one only, We personally have them on 6 vehicles at this time, 4 of the gas motors have about a 10 to 12 mpg increase per gallon, one gas motor rejected it because it has multiple sensors conflicting with it, still going to get it going sometime. We have it on one deisel motor with about a 23 mpg increase. Thats it beleive it or not, And I am not related to the Ripleys family.

    I believe it works......

But myth busters for a scientific result ,C-mon you really going to take thier word as fact....lol. They shot a shot gun point blank into a confined water trap ,cant be too smart in my book.
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Mythbusters proved you can't run an engine off of ONLY the gas created from an HHO generator, then they sprayed hydrogen directly in the carb ( from a gas bottle ) and it did run. these suplimental hho generators were not tested

I don't understand why it is so hard to believe that replacing air with HHO would NOT lead to increased fuel economy. But there's no free lunch. The HHO system has to be maintained and checked regularly for example. But at todays gas prices seems like a decent trade to me.

As far as running an engine only off of HHO, yes it can and has been done. But there are issues here as well. First off you need to have enough HHO; that could be a large HHO generator for a V8. Second you will have to toally change your timing. Gasoline engines spark before the piston reaches TDC due to the time it takes for the combustion process to happen. With HHO only you spark and it explodes RIGHT NOW! Now your timing needs to be ATDC. Also you lose lubricating and cooling effect of the petrol based fuel which leads to hotter valve temps etc. Finally you will notice serious corrosion issues due to burning HHO and the water you get back from it. Life issues with HHO only vehicles is not well understood or demonstrated yet.

well i got mine installed we'll see what it does , what it consists of is 2 stainless steel pipes, one goes inside the other, you seperate them, we used heavy duty wire ties between them ,you weld two studs about 6" long on to the pipes ,you go to dollar general store and by a tall jar,[plastic top] run the studs through the top and secure fill the jar so it is just over the top of the pipes in it,i/2 teaspoon of pure baking soda ,mix, also drill a hole big enough for a nipple in top, install lid ,run power to jar and ground,i used a relay and switch inside with a 10 amp fuse ,the power that comes from the battery to the relay i installed a 40 amp fuse ,hook the switch into a ign side circuit .plum the hose from the nipple on the jar into you pcv system or air cleaner.mount the jar .turn the key on and the switch and watch her go,we lit the end of the hose and it blew the top of the jar off,so we installed a check valve .
'"also use distilled water .you have to change the water about once every week and a half. i have a 100 miles on mine ,im going to fill it back up today and see what the gas did. this system pulls about 30 amps,to much baking soda and it pulls more .

These things do not work...think of it this way...You are saying you can get "something from nothing" perpetual machine [?] To get the hydrogen you will be using a wire run from your alternator. You then put an extra load on the alternator to produce this HHO. What drives the alternator? Will you not have to use more energy from the engine to keep the alt out put high enough to keep up with both the engine and the HHo system?

Best way to get better fuel mileage....drive differant.
