Cam Bearing opinion please.
I pulled my engine out of my car ('65 Chrysler New Yorker, mid '70's 440, bone stock) to replace a couple freeze plugs. I figured that while I was in there I might as well scrub it up and paint the engine bay and engine......then I figured that I might as well take the opportunity to replace the timing chain and oil pump.....well, if I am this far, I might as well put a little better cam and intake.......(weekend job is snowballing quickly) I ordered an Edelbrock performer intake &cam/lifter package, which finally leads me to my question. Do I need to replace the cam bearings or can I merely replace the cam and lifters? In my youth, I swapped cams several times without changing the cam bearings. Was I just lucky then, or what?

Be careful removing the cam and you'll have no problrm using the bearings over. Even if you knick one a little, just smooth it out with a real fine sandpaper and reuse it. They're nowhere near as "touchy" as main bearings.Buying parts I don't need, with money I don't have, to impress people I don't like

How much did Santa have to pay for his sleigh? Nothing! It's on the house! .
