Header flange caps
I am having having a heck of a time finding a pr of flat 3.5" flange header caps. You know the flat w three holes type that caps the header flange opening? I want to cap them. Then holesaw a 2.5" tap in the back side of the flange for exaust . Then I can mount some tuner extensions and look open ala 1960's. Need not be chrome, but it would be nice. Anyone know who makes them?

Checked burns they offer nothing ,but They may make them, I'll call tomorrow.
They are if your plasma cutter, torches and drill press was stolen, By a relative I might add. I want nice factory style cuts, not hacked out w a hacksaw and a hand drill. I can lay them out, thats no big deal. Cutting them I cannot do w my shaky hands.Last edited by Dgas56; 02-06-2009 at 06:00 PM.

you will not like burns price i have deal with them if your looking for mild steel go to a metal shop with a gasket have them whip them out the end caps. i would made them out of 1/4 plate they will last a life time and not bend when you draw them up or weld a 3 1/2 hole saw plug in a 3 hole street hook up you can buy just the ringsLast edited by pat mccarthy; 02-06-2009 at 06:30 PM.

I think thatbis what i will end up doing no seems to make them , they will be visible below the fender lip from the side so appearence is a thing, I can have the platee or maybe have them made out of stainless and polished.

Made my own. I wanted to incorporate baffles into each Limefire header so I cut a piece of flat steel into the proper shape, holesawed a 2 inch hole in the middle, welded in a 2 inch tube, and punched it full of holes. Brought the sound level down about 50 percent, I would say. I then painted the flange with silver hi temp exhaust paint and sandwiched the whole thing between the header and the turnout. You can't see it up in there at all.

Thanks guys , I'll look into this more . I love the baffle idea and it should not be too tough to do at home.I got ahold of my exaust guy and he will make the caps for me. Sweet header setup! I am thinking that 2.5" x 12 " trim to length motorcycle baffels might bring the decibal level down even more. Sure save on exaust costs too. LOLLast edited by Dgas56; 02-14-2009 at 07:51 AM.

Great job, Don!
As to motorcycle baffles - your local Harley shop probably has some in their scrap bin.

Yah, The shop where I get all of my chopper stuff sells them cheap. $10-20 Ea. for 14" in various diameters. you simply cut em down to length.
Thank you Roger. .
