Blower install on a small block 350
Hello all,
I am installing a HAMPTON 671 Blower on my 350 small block. Everything is straight forward but I do have one question. I have been told to have my crank and balancer double keyed. Is this absolutely necessary? I don't plan to buzz this motor too high since i only have a ten bolt rear end.

It'll be easier and cheaper to do it now, than it will be later when the single key wrecks the crank snout.

Also, be sure you have an internally balanced balancer. Aftermarkets are sometimes hard to tell the difference between dampeners. A 400 balancer w/ come apart. SBC's have extremely short snouts. Be sure to pin or cut two keyways. I learned the hard way on somebody elses motor, but he bought the Austrailian 400 balancer and I didn't see the small 400 engraved in it until it lunched the shaft. Its hard not to zing up a blower motor. Too much fun. Start looking for some axles now! Billy
