    Engine problem

Alright so I have a 79 chevy camaro with the original 305 in it. It has shaved heads, aftermarket intake, 600cfm 4 bbl (holley), and long tube headers. Thats all thats done to it. I bought it from a buddy that had it and am now the 3rd owner. He pulled the engine and tranny out rebuilt them and put them back in and drove it for about 2000 miles. It sat for about 8 months and ever since I got it all it does is pop out the passenger exhaust. Well I checked and found it doesnt fire in the #6 cylinder so its only running on 7 out of the 8 this whole time. The plug was pulled out and it was soaked in oil and gas. I set it on the engine and it sparks like crazy so its not a spark issue. And it has compression but just wont run on all 8 cylinders. So I think its a broke valve spring, or broke rocker arm, or burnt exhaust valve? Idk but i def. dnt think its a piston ring cuz it doesnt smoke at all. Any Ideas? What could cause this problem????????????
    Thanks anyone

mhmm thats wierd alot of people that I asked around my town are saying it a valve problem more than likely exhuast valve cause its dumping that excess gas into the header and wouldnt the sucking in of air from exhaust valve keep the spark plug from igniting? I dnt know this is my first project car ever

ok sounds like a plan. Now when i do the cr if all are the same or very close then that would mean its something relating to the head right? and if thats the only one thats weak it could be a broken ring or somethign with piston? I'm not really sure how to use the measurements. Thanks for your help

yep if there all the same then it sealing up but could be a oil rings. but if that hole is dead then it is a valve or a burnt down piston were the rings and ring lands hurt look at the valves. check that cam is not rounded off but i would think it is not that. but check it any ways. so if that hole is dead pull the head

i went back and did re read your post if its poping thru the ex look at the valve train pulled stud ETC and rockers see if you rockers are opening before you pull the head ez to check so check it any ways . hard to say you may have more them one thing going on but if the plug is oily and wet with gas the ex valve and poping is not working

NO take the valve cover off check every thing and if all push rods lifters look like they are working at full lift you will needed to crank over the engine to check with a bump button or pull the coil power and have some one crank the engine.if no pulled rocker studs or bad rockers bent ex valve .then do a CR check then if hole is dead. then pull the head
