mine would have to be the 440ci MoParIf it won't go, force it... If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway

BowTie Girl; I like the big old caddy engines too, I've got a great site for you.www Maximum Torque Specialties. That engine your talking about has 400HP and 550 foot pounds of torque. More then most of the big diesel pick up's today.

Vegas I know Maximum Torque specialties quit well. I have thier Cat and have order quite a few things from them, including the great howtoo book. I like the fact that the are only 50lb heavier than a SB bowtie. most boyz don't realize that makes it almost 100lbs light than a rat. The weekness is in the valve train but can be easily fixed. Can you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?

BowTie Girl; Yep I got the cat too. And they have that new rocker set up now, so like you said it can be fixed. Plus they have the short A.C. compressor so you can put on a after market intake and they have the fuel injection set up too. And they have aluminum Valve cover now not the adapters.

I will stick with a 1911 edelbrock qjet. Best damn carberator. I have the 750 on my pontiac. I love it. When it comes to cars. I am not the average home maker! LOLCan you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?

How about that LT5 (from the ZR1)? If they were easier to get, I bet we would see some pretty gnarly versions of the motor running around, but 405 hp is still nothing to turn your nose at. It's aluminum too.Last edited by 76GMC1500; 02-05-2004 at 09:43 PM.

The Gen 3 in the new GTo is stock at 350hp and is aluminum. The Caddy is not aluminum. It is a steel block with an extremly high nickle content. Thin castings so they tend to run hotter than the norm. can't bore much either. But, then the nickle also wears less so there is really not much need. My block came from a 71 Eldo with over 100k. My finger nail cannot snag any ring ridge. I guess I won't get much more techical. I don't want anyone to think I was full of lunch meat. LOL But If you don't believe me you can do the research yourself. Can you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?

BowTie Girl:Right now I have an 800 Rodchester on my 472 Caddy but I want to get one of the Predator carburators. Streets swears by them and they go from 390 cfm's to 930 cfm's. Its the only thing that Streets runs on his bad *@# cars, so I think I'm going to try one out. I do have a Holly 750 on my 351 Cleveland. But you have problems with the power valves. If you want to know more about the Predator you'll have to talk to Streets he can explain it better in detail than I can.

Holley sales a powevalve conversion kit to fix that blow out problem. I think I will stick with what I know. I have a carberator guerue that has told me that predators do like the street well. If I cannot have my Qjet I will settle for an AFB. I don't like Holleys either. To much to fiddle with. A Qjet either work or it don't. If it don't throw a kit in it and it lives! HP books puts aout a great book on Rochesters! Check it out!Can you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?

BowTie Girl: I used to run the AFB carters on my big block Dodges and they were a good carburator too, but these Predators don't have anything to mess with, real easy to rebuild, and they work off vacuum and will only use as much fuel as it needs. They're pretty neat actually. Just talk to Streets...and check it out! They dont spend a lot of money to advertise. Thats why you dont see them a lot, but a lot of the big name mud trucks run them to power their engines.

DO you have room for a manifold? and EDE 2115 will give almost 25 hp on the 500 because the original designe was poor. I did not know if the 472 was the same. I just know that stock manifild flows uphill. Can you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?

Ive yet to hear anyone even mention the classic Stromberg 97 two barrel. As for favorite all time motor how about a late model Mercury flathead with a hilborn setup and an Ardun ohv conversion."its better to rule in hell, than serve in heaven."

I like many motors but it depends on what there in. I'm putting a 350 with dual predators and progressive linkage in my 83' Mercedes Benz, and a Th200 trans. If I had a Mopar I would want a 440 6 pack and a torqflight 727. If I had a Caddy I would want a 500 caddy. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
