I run it in the old shop truck and my winter beater... Also run E-90 in two drag cars, works great for me, my favorite thing about it is the octane is high enough that you can actually run some compression in an engine again and not get stuck paying for race gas! Most important thing is to get the carb correct for E-85! There are a couple of carbs specifically made for E-85, AED and Demon both have them. We get ours set up by a guy here locally who is a whiz at it!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thank's, My engine builder has had great luck with it and he can set one up for me. I'll have somewhere around 620hp with 13.1 comp on a 427sbc running a 1050 dominator and he said it should great on this engine, Thank's again.

If you have a good carb man experienced with the rework necessary to run E-85 you've got it made! We run a 1050 on the 501 in the T-Bird, works great @ 13.5:1 on the E-90.
Toughest part about running ethanol or methanol is reading the plugs! Takes a long time for the plugs to show a color, I'd definitely recomend an Air Fuel ratio monitor to keep an eye on things. We also run a pyrometer in both the drag cars to keep an eye on the burn.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thank's Dave, If you don't mind me asking what size jets do you have on the front and back?

No idea where we ended up on jets... Didn't get out with the boys much last summer... With E-85 it's a fuel hungry monster! I believe we originally started on the chassis dyno last spring with 98's and 104's, and the secondary linkage arm in the 75% hole....the AED carbs come with the same 4 position secondary arm adjustment, as do the AED conversion kits.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

our ausi V8 Supercars run on E85 they started using it for the 09 season and it didn't seem to affect the cars at all.
it was well and truly tested at mount panorama Bathurst this year, where they drove there cars around the tarck for 161 laps
Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit is 6.213 kilometres in length and 874 metres above sea level.
this is a cool video of a flying lap of the track back in 2003, new lap record that they still can't beat to this day.
cheers barnsey
enjoy

this one will give you a better look at the track, and what its like to race on, there have been a few guys from the US come out here and try to tame the mountain, they all go away gobsmacked at how challenging it really is, sometimes it can be raining on top of the mountain and not raining at the bottom.
cheers barnsey.
p.s If you like your motor racing check out the other youtube links to the great race at bathurst. after 161 laps and 7 hours of non stop racing on E85 fuel nearly the whole feild of 38 cars were still running, so it can't be that bad for your engines.

That's some really great racing Barnsey!!! I checked out a number of the videos on the link you posted earlier!!! My very first racing job was with one of the IMSA GT teams in the mid-70's, kind of reminds me of the Supercar racing in Australia!!! Big money, but not so crazy that with a bit of proper sponsorship a good racer could compete! Suppose one of those teams would want to hire a crippled up old fabricator for a couple seasons?????
In drag racing, we switch to E-85 about 5 years ago and have actually had fewer engine problems then we did with race gas... Initially we did it because of a sponsorship offer, but later were quite happy that we did... We blend the pump E-85 up to about E-90, our goal is 112 octane so we add E-100 to the E-85 to come up with the 112 octane. Main challenge on the learning curve of using ethanol is reading the plugs---they are very slow to color.... An air fuel ratio monitor solved that issue... We also run an pyrometer in one of the collectors as a final read on what the cylinders are burning at.... Don't think I'd switch back to race fuel even if it were the same price!!! Our E-90 comes out to right at $2.00/gallon, the equivalant octane in racing gas is over $6.00/gallon!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thank's guy's for all the great info, Ill talk to my engine man some more about this and see if he has all the right meters too tune it correctly because I don't wont too lean out on the top and burn a piston or worse. Thank's again
