Chevy sbc/bbc in 1967 Cadillac???
Hi everyone, I have a 67 cadillac coupe deville that I am looking to put a chevy motor in, I have a 396 and a couple 350s Im rebuilding at the moment.. My question is, does anyone know of a place that sells motor mounts or a conversion kit for a Chevy motor to be put in the Caddy, or will I have to fab the mounts myself?? I've searched a bit online for mounts but no luck..Im tired of all this arguing...
Its not a hot rod, kustom, rat rod, lead sled, gasser, and its not a street machine....its my car.

My Quistion is why not go with a 501 caddy motor?
You've got some heavy steel there and it's gonna take alot of torque to get it rolling.
The early 70's 501 caddy engine had 400 HP and 550ft. pounds of torque,
and they got decent fuel milage in stock form.
And they have companies out there building fuel injection systems for them and all kinds of HP stuff now, if thats what your in too.
Just not sure how well that small block is gonna pull that tank around.

big is better when pulling heavy steel the 396 would do but i would pump it to 427 or a 454 to496 if its a use what you got deal 396. but do not over look the caddy 500 or a new ls1 engine if you want the new stuff .the price on them engine s have come down over the yearsIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

One of our members Geezer2 has a Caddy Seville with a BBC. You might want to e-mail him to see if he has any tips.Remember, Freedom isn't Free, thousands have paid the price so you can enjoy what you have today.

go with the 500 caddie its a bolt in and with a good intake and card. will burn the rear wheels off of that battleship.don't waste your time and money with the chevys.67 caddie is a huge car and heavy as a tank.if you need more accel. you can alway change the rear gears,it prob. has 273 or 308,you could go to 355 or 373.theren is a firm that sell hi0po stuff for the 472 and 500's check the internet.

I agree with the above posts. Stick with a big block caddy engine. Once built they are hard runners and seem to live forever!
Besides then you get to put cool valve covers on them!

I agree with the general opinion that you should stick with a Caddy. What is your objection to doing that?

the caddy maybe a good engine. he did not say thats what he wanted to do? . 396 bbc . could pull the caddy and has a soild bottom end just like any bbc .if my caddy i would not play with 500 cid i would just go up to a 565 or 632 there s room under the hood for a merlin v12Last edited by pat mccarthy; 02-11-2010 at 01:16 PM.
