Can anybody help me with this Mallory distributor, p/u at a garage sale and I can't find info on the net. It says it's a Type 345 A, the Model looks like Z0, made of aluminum, the cap is cool, bakelite with M. Mallory signature on top..

If it only has 4 lobes, it works by closing one set of points while the other set remains open whereas most dual pointers work sort of in unison to extent the dwell degrees

It's a dual point and I misread the model, it's a ZC...number on the shaft is 24933,number on the points 24875-B, number on the cap 24004..What the heck does it fit???

Its an early Mallory marine style distributor, the wires are held in the cap via the two top screws with a small diaphram that sealed the cap, yours has a tach drive, looks to be small block chevy.. dual point four lobe, you can`t buy the condensor for those any more, haven`t made them for twenty five years, they really put out the spark, used to run one in a `68 dodge 383, really ate plugs up fast.

406Rich is right, not sure what the ZC series fit. I'm running a Mallory YC 465-HP "dual life" dual point distributor on my 383 small block chev.Overall looks like the one you have. It uses the same points etc. as yours. Yours may be Mopar or Ford as the shaft doesn't look chevrolet to me.

Mine seems to work well so far. Mallory makes a replacement condensor (#400) but it's not as good looking as the original brass one.

These can be converted to an electronic style, (Pertronix, etc.) but I'm keeping mine points as long as I can.

Nice looking ride Mick, I remember testing for spark many times seeing a bright blue flame jump a half inch distance LOL, sometimes I got in the way.... ( The pic looks to be chevy but to short in the base, maybe flathead huh...? )

As you can see, the coupe isn't finished yet but I have driven it, and once we got the timing squared away it runs strong.

I'll bet you're right, that could very well be a flathead dizzy.

After looking at some early parts catalogs, I `m thinking its a chevy w motor dizzy, 348-409 chevy, you could get some change for that if your looking to sell to someone that wants period perfect speed equipment. Here`s a shot of a early 348/409 dizzy base..
