vo423fba stamped on passenger side in front of the head. does anyone know what this is

1987 truck 350, 210 hp L05 engine code throttle body injection with 700 transmission
could be either half ton or three qtr ton

how did you find that i have been searching and cant find that online.

The "V" signifies the engine was built in Flint Michigan
"0423 signifies April 23
FBA is the engine build code, also known as the "suffix"

i cant find the fba thats the part thats throws me off

A few years ago, I bough a book of suffix codes...it is about 275 pages and
has the real and complete set of poop, not a subset like the web sites have....

The book I have is titled MSA-1 "Factory Engine Code Identification Guide"
copyrighted in 2005 by Mark S. Allen

It tells the suffix, the engine RPO, the body, the trans, the carburetor, and smog data.
The book also crosses head castings, exhaust manifolds, intakes, etc.
The MSA book can be ordered by calling 800-600-MSA1 in Missouri. It was pretty cheap, I think $35 or $40 bucks

The web page decoders are pretty bad...usually have only a subset and lots of errors.
