Hello, My name is John. It,s been awhile sence I,ve been here. I have a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2, Automaitic trans.
The other day I was checking my starter. I found a kinda loose wire. So I took the nut off and cleaned it and the small post it fit on. But when I put it back on. I unknowly got the little black wire stuck in with it. So when I went to crank the motor. It shorted out. I heared a pop. And smelled rubber bruning. I took off the battery cable. And begain checking things out. When I founed what Had happen. I released the black wire. And checked it out. It had a little wire showing. But other wise was okay. A little black tape fixed that. When I replaced the cable. And try again to crank the motor. It done nothing.
Well I,ve checked all my fuses. Thier all okay. I've check other wires. Thier okay. I've looked at the fuseable link. It looks okay.
Now their some wires (4) leading from the starter to a relay looking thing. But have no idea what it is. Perhaps the nutrul safty swicth. Don't know.
At this point I don't know what else to check. So I,m looking for some input from folks that know more than I do.
