BBC head change
I have a chance for a set of '215 heads, same valve size as present '236(peanuts) I have 8.03:1 comp now, with 118 cc's. Will these, '215's give me any appreciable compression?
(seat of the pants feel) or is it to negligable and not worth the valve grind fees?

215 head were around 95 to 100 cc and bigger port then the small ovals . i do not know what cam you have in it so the small port heads may not be to bad . i would say with the 215 could be worth 25 hp just in the cr gainIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

it should run good with what you have now . there is alot that can be done to get abit more out of the 215 casting as to what you have now hate to put a number on it but with a nice valve job and a few other things i would think over 35 hp over that you have now if you have a good exhaust . that was the head to use back in the early 80s alot of flat top 454 had them heads on them that was the first thing we didwhen you could buy them things all day for cheap. now there gold to the guy that wants numbers maching engine

35 Hp increase possible? Seat of the pants feel, you think? Thanks for the reply. I know its hard to estimate HP's but what increse with '215's with a
6-71 with 5#'s of boost, would this need a cam change?

Pat, thanks for the responses, this sounds do-able money wise. Even if it hits 500 hp I'll feel it's money well placed. I will be watching your posts as you have a background of reason, not just a "keyboard jockey"!!!!
