First - "I" didn't say it was lowly.. Bob Tasca Senior did! He's no longer with us either, but he and his dealership have had more influence on you and your car than you'll ever realize!
I hope you (& other readers) who were to young to have been there can read through this thread and realize how things have changed and worse how much we've been losing as time marches on.
Do you know why the FE was given that huge intake manifold?

First 34/40 let me say I was making a joke so. Second shame on Bob Tasca for saying such a thing(joking again ). Third I would say its cause the pushrods actually go thru passages in intake so the intake interfaces with head, distributor, valve train, valve covers and block..
Lastly my father was born and raised in Providence,RI. We are after all Italian and my father and grandfather new the family very well. And my 69 FORD. wears the Tasca Ford proudly between it tail lights. That's all most people see anyway thanks.Last edited by slincoln 3; 11-13-2014 at 11:52 AM.

No Pat you misunderstood my post. What I was saying was about guys taking a 396/325 hp putting in a cam and throwing on some headers and then going racing. That said what I meant was their % of wins would drop in 2014 with that setup. That's what I meant by would not net same results snd thats a fact!!!!
I certainly know that 396 will make as much power even more now as it did in 60's.
We clear now cuz maybe I didn't explain it properly .
Oh and please take it easy your last post didn't sound so good. wow...Last edited by slincoln 3; 12-18-2014 at 07:23 AM.

First.. it was a weak attempt but I kinda knew that...
Second.. yeah. OK.
Third. I read once in Mustangs Monthly ( back in the 80's before they combined it) an article where they were chatting with a Ford Engineer who had worked under Henry himself! And he claims they knew that the first thing hot rodders swap out is the cast iron intake, so they gave the FE a huge one to help make the engine lighter once a rodder / racer got their hands on it.
