Junkyard 350 build.
Hi all, I'm trying to do a junkyard engine build to throw in my 72 skylark. So I was wondering what vehicle would be the best to pull a fuel injected 350, and which engine I would get most reliability as a daily driver from.So I guess what I'm asking is what year and car would be best to pull a fuel injected from Thank you very muchLast edited by efregoso; 08-29-2015 at 12:40 AM.

If you just want cheap and basic, get a TBI Chevy 350. Easy fuel injection to work with using factory stuff and there are thousands of them out there in pickups and vans.1 Corinthians 1:27

If you're looking at Gen 1 SBC, passenger cars from '87 on were roller lifters, one piece rear main which is what you want. If you're looking at trucks, vans & SUV's they retained flat tappet cams through '95, but they had one piece rear mains so they can fake you out. You want roller lifters. Here's a pretty good article for basic information - Chevy Small Block - Car Craft Magazine Pay attention to the section "Roller Warning" regarding cam selection. Glenn or Tech can help with which OEM heads are best, but a set of aluminum heads can be pretty competitive in price if you're having the iron heads re-built by a good shop.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

For a efi junkyard package to go in a car that old you will need a lift out-a package that comes out of the wreck complete with everything on it----INCLUDING the accessories-alternator, h2o pump, a/c compressor, and complete belt drive system and transmiision-also you'll want to get computer, wiring harness, dash cluster and any theft control moduals plus wiring to the fuel pump and the tank/pump assy-while your at it get the front yoke of the driveshaft for the transmission-no, make that the whole shaft-------also get the trans crossmember and the exhaust system down to that point
you need to fiqure what your budjey will be because the more modern you can afford the more power and mileage you'll get-
so pick a GEN number and come back and we'll guide you a bit further down the road------
Thanks!! I usually do the "NZ Slang" lookup but decided to poke the bear this time! ;):D:p
