1960 Ford Ranch Wagon - Motor options

I'm soon to start building my 60 Ranch Wagon two door. Plans are to build a street rod out of it, so I'm entertaining motor ideas. I have access to a 351W roller thats in need of rebuild. I also have aluminum Edelbrock heads. I'd like to have a manual transmission, and fuel injection. My engine options so far:

    1. Build a stroker out of the 351 and add a Tremec T56 Magnum (Tremec kit is probably 7k)
    2. Source a pull out 7.3 Godzilla. These seem to be going for around 8k with an automatic transmission. I'm unsure as to how much I'd spend if pulleys, oil pan, etc would have to be changed, and I'm really dont care to run the auto trans.
    3. Source a pull out 5.0 Coyote motor and manual transmission. Seems they can be had for around 8-10K. Again I'm unsure about how much I'd need to spend to fit it
but this seems to be a viable option with being able to use the transmission also.

    Thoughts, ideas?

I'd go with the pull-out Coyote. A friend found a Mustang that had been rear ended and was being parted out, and worked a deal on the engine & trans. They're becoming more available, some with really low mileage (new car, young driver w/ a heavy foot). They're wide, but the '60 is wide, too!

If you want to go "old school" build an FE, 390 or so, and put a 4 speed top loader behind it. That ranch wagon is going to be fairly heavy.

The Coyote pull out would get my vote, might want to check with a place called Midway Mustang, they usually have some interesting combinations up for sale.

If it were mine.. I like the 351 / 408 Stroker... but it sounds like you already chose option 3 - which is a fine way to goal also... Or seek Godzilla!?!?!

I'll toss in that the "Wow Factor" of a Coyote in there when you pop the hood will be HUGE. You've said you want EFI and a TREMEC T56 on a 351/stroker, so going Old School doesn't seem to be your priority. The reliability of a pull out 'Yote is going to be there, too, and with some custom ECU tuning you'll have plenty of HP and torque. One of my boys has two. His F150 is running a ProCharger plus tune for 700HP at the wheels. His race Mustang is also running a ProCharger, plus aftermarket fuel system and tune for E85 fuel - 900+ RWHP on it.

Having had the Coyote in the Boss 302 I'd vote that as well...........sweet engine with lots of power potential. IIRC Ford has a more "simple" ECU for older car swaps which might simplify the change, or there seem to be lots of younger guys who are into making the black box that comes with the donor sing. I'm with Roger, when you open the hood it would be a lovely sight, although they need some cleanup across the top..............sometimes I think Ford went out of their way to pile on the ugly.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

If money isn't an issue, I'd go with the Godzilla. They seem to be a very good platform and like boost. So does the Coyote, but they are every where now like an LS swap.
