Has anyone ever done business with this guy, Jim ?

I am concerned myself with the length of time it takes
    to recieve an engine. Like 6 months . . . .

Never heard of him, but that certainly doesn't mean that he doesn't build quality engines. I still use a local machinist and do my own assembly. Keith is slow too, takes time to do the quality work and he has a large customer base and does a lot of the performance stuff. If you want a motor quick, why not just a crate motor?? The Ford Racing catalog has a very good selection of done engines.

Yeah I've done buisnes w/ Jim shafer he and his shop is absolutley the worst engine builders around DO NOT BUY FROM THIS CLOWN!!!! I made the mistake of buying a SBC from him last Feb. 2004. and I'm still trying to figure it out. what an idiot....They took 3 months suppose to be 1 month to build my engine. When I finally got it it was missing oil gallery plugs, rear main seal was wrong and leaked everywhere, wrong timing chain installed and incorrect cylinder heads. I could go on and on but if you want to hear more email me, I'd be glad to let you know about them. I'm a little late on the post but hopefully you haven't bought anything from them.

I know this is a old thread but I have one of those Indy mustang motors in my 55 sunliner and after about 18,000 miles its about done,it was a mismatched batch of parts and from what I have heard I am suprised it lasted this long. Jim is still selling motors under DRS motors and possibly other names so watch out and I think he is also selling them on craigslist too.
