Floaters vs. Semi-Floaters
I was looking at Summit's connecting rods the other day and noticed that I could get a new set of bushed rods for $240. I believe the mean bushed for full floating wrist pins. Anyways, it would probably cost $240 to get my current rods reconditioned and the idea of converting to full floating wrist pins is very appealing. Of course I would polish them so they would be like their stage 2 rods because I plan on running greater than 9.0:1 compression. I know full floating wrist pins can support more weight than press fit, and more importantly they are easy to assemble. What other advantages are there and what kind of disadvantages am I looking at for a daily driven work truck. Do these rods even work with full floating pins? I thought they were bushed so they would, but Summit's web page says otherwise (typo maybe?).
