Weber Carbs
Hello everyone,
I am buildiing a hot rod and I was interested about adding some Weber carbs. All I know about these carbs are that they look great and are very expensive. They advertise in this web site . Can anyone give me a their opinion about these carbs? Are they worth the money?
Thank you

Had a set of Webers on a 289 in a Mustang many years ago, bought them from Inglese as a package with the manifold, linkage, and the tuning book. It was a great setup, not too bad on the tuning if you have a set of vacuum tubes to sync the carbs with. Once set correctly, they worked great!!! No hesitation, no stumling, just good acceleration and very smooth down the highway. As for the "eye candy" appeal, nothing can beat them short of a set of Hillborn injectors converted to EFI. They are expensive, but hey, what isn't???? BTW, most bike shops have the vacuum tubes I referred to, they use them for synchronising the carbs on multi cylinder, multi carb bikes. Go for it, man.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I had a pair of Weber thre throats (40IDA3C) on a Corvair once and I have a pair of Webers (40IDF) on the VW in my Beck Spyder. They are simply the best carbs available. Attached id a picture of a 32 Ford roadster with Ardun heads and Weber carbs. The owner has driven this set up for many years and is very pleased with it.An Old California Rodder

I had a pair of Webber carbs on a 59 Sprite and worked great. Instant throttle response at any speed is what I remember the most about them. If you can afford the Inglese setup you'll love the way they perform." Im gone'

I am pleased to learn Al had a Sprite since I have had the "underpowered" feeling that maybe I wasted a lot of years messing around with two MG Midgets (1973, 1970). Anyway the bodyman who restored my '73 Midget from a car with a tree in the middle to a 90% restored car told me he had a Sprite with a Weber carb on the little 4 cyl and when about to be ticketed for speeding the officer offered him the option of documenting the top speed of the Sprite sort of as a data point for the officer and so he ran it wide open and was supposedly clocked at over 110 mph on a flat straight road! It makes a good story anyway, but the Sprites and Midgets were raced and my only experience was with the strange Solex side draft carbs that came stock so I never got to the stage of a Weber carb, but surely the Weber is better than the Solex!
