Can anyone help me ID this?
http://bis.midco.net/skarhotrod/4sale.htm
This is the intake that came in the trunk of my 49Ply, Its for a straight 8. I need some info on this so I can either find an engine for it if its worth while or sell it.
This is one of the numbers casted on it. 1400490-21949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.

Not sure, from the looks of it all together its the whole intake exhaust and carb for a straight 8, just not sure what make. I like the looks of it but if its for a POS engine I want to get rid of it to a restorer rather than use it my self for an Old Skool rod.
I just posted better pictures of it on the site.
and below the casting number is "NH"Last edited by joker51; 09-18-2004 at 08:39 PM.

That carbs got a tag on it... maybe you can track it down from there. I also noted the exaust manifold seems to have some sorta' heat riser for the choke. The pointer in the circle is a casting date (of sorts) and looks vaguely GM to me. Since none of the Buick fans have spoken up yet I'm guessin' Pontiac. Whats' left? Pacard? Some day I be shinin' in the Boulavard windows

I only count 6 ports on those manifolds. Why do you think they are from an 8?
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Stu the other piece is the other 2 ports, its a 2 piece exhaust for a straight 8 they stack on top of each other and then the carb right on top. if I remeber right, But I do know when it was together it had 8 exhaust ports1949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.

Tim based on what you've shown in the pics, I'm with Pat, that's from an inline 6. The intake manifold has three runners, those feed siamesed intake runners in the block, two per port. The point where the intake and exhaust bolt together is to provide heat to the carb plenum for better vaporization of the fuel while engine is warming up.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Looks to me like the stock intake and exhaust manifolds off a 216/235 Chevy 6 banger. The large part of the intake bolts to the exhaust manifold as it is the heat riser assembly.Duane S

OK I guess because of this pic I thought it was a straight 8 setup

If you count the ports in that picture, there are actually 9. As Bob said 3 are intakes, 6 are exhaust. The Intakes split after they go into the block or head.
I can see where it could be confusing

Thanks guys after I took the picture and posted it I realized my mistake, Well I guess this is probably the original intake/exhaust manifold for the flat head 6 that came with the car then, right?1949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.
