    Buick v8 power

like anyone into perf rides and improveing same, i basicly like anything that performs well in my field of mtrsport endeavor; which is drag racing; in that the name of the game is tq and traction. nothing makes tq like a Big Block v8 Buick, thus my personal prefs r those rides powered by Buick, Pontiac, Mopar and Oldsmobile big cube v8 mtrs in that order of preference...I would like to hear from anyone else who is also a fan of the big block v8 buick who may wish to get or impart some info about their or my experiences with Buick v8 power or the turbocharged 3.8 v6 GN/GNX mtrs as well...post to the thread ....I am so into the grunts that I have a sleeper 78 lesabre 4 door that i drag race powered by a 403 Oldsmobile and a radical 88 BMW 327 AEI Post Coupe into which i swap back n forth two different stage1 455 based mtrs, an iron headed 464" 73 stage1 455 and an aluminum headed 535" 74 455 Stage1.....

I have a few issues with your post. 1) the 403 Olds was a webbed main motor. Why would you drag race this motor? Even if you capped the mains, its still a very weak low end. 2) Why put a 455 into a beemer? Sounds odd. Im personally surprised it even fits. 3)If your looking for T-charged info, search the posts. There are a few people who run SCv6 buicks.

Well I can comment on the V6 turbo. I think it's a geat engine with lots of potential. Even in stock trim it's a killer. Mine was in a 86 GN with some bolt on upgrades. I've found that ATR (applied technolgies and reaserch) have some of the BEST buick turbo parts available. They have a slick twin turbo kit which is really nice and sell everything from mild to wild. Their stainless steel exaust and headers are works of art. It'a simple engine to work on and build too. Not as fickle as the FE Fords I'm used to. BTW I have a Buick V8-V6 high performance book. It gives some nice specs and part numbers for Big block buicks as well as the V6 turbo but more V8 stuff. Anyway I sold my GN 4 years ago and have no use for it. I can send it to you if you like. It might be helpful. I'll dig it out and post the name. If you don't have it or would like it let me know...G.

Nothing wrong with the Buick 455. Have you checked out the Buick Performance Group? Pay a visit to www.v8buick.com.

I just put a pair of really nice aluminum Stage1 heads on my Buick 455 block. A few different companies make them now, but I prefer the work done by TA Performance. These TA heads are almost visually identical to the heavy stock heads...on the outside. Completetly re-designed on the inside, nice flow numbers out-of-the-box, and small chambers on the heads

One of the digs on the Buick 455 is the two bolt mains. Well, with a higher nickel content in the Buick block, I'd argue that the metal itself is stronger than other division's with the exception of Caddy, and there are sub 12 second GS455, 4000 pound convertibles owned by club members using stock blocks, no girdles. A twin turbo Buick 455...now that would be a killer engine
