Wire looms on sbc with rams horn exhaust manifolds
Does anyone out there have a picture of a small block chev engine running rams horn exhaust manifolds, with some nice milled aluminun wire looms for the ignition wires? The attached picture is my "work in progress". I just installed the HEI distributor and wires (they came stock on this 1985 engine), and the ignition wires kinda look like a snake fight. One of the things I notice is that the top of the rams horns actually sets higher than the lip around the bottom of the valve covers, which means that if I run the flat aluminum wire looms (which I like), I will have to run some spacers between the underside of the looms and the top of the lip around the valve covers so that the underside of the looms will clear the top of the rams horn exhaust manifolds. (are you confused yet?) On my previous 2 rods that I built using small blocks, I ran headers and some rather ugly chrome sheet metal wire looms that kinda looked like small fans to hold the wires up off of the headers. This time around I saved a ton of money on headers, (picked up the rams horns at the Barrie flea market for $25, and painted them with Eastwoods hi-temp header paint), so I feel that I can spend a bit for some nice billet wire looms. (Oh my God, he's gonna put some billet on the roadster pickup). Thanks for the help----BrianOld guy hot rodder
