intake and carb. size
my 70 cutlass has the original 350 2bbl. in it with 82,000 on it. i want to put a 4 bbl and intake on it with an hei distributor. my main question is which intake and size of carb? the motor is unmolested has a new timing chain and water pump this yr., factory heads and cam, i do not want to get into the block cause the oil is like you pulled it of the parts store shelf and does not smoke at all. the car will be used for cruisin and shows, i'm not interested in high performance right now i just want it to be more responsive and have a little more grunt. i had thought about pulling the edelbrock 600cfm off of my monte carlo for its ease of tuning and trouble free use and putting a holley street avenger on the monte. will the 600 be to much for a 350 2bbl cam and heads? thanks for any helpcraftsman try to turn of the voices in there head. artists listen to them

Get a dual plane intake and the 600cfm carb should work fine. I was running one on my 305 with no problemsKeep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Rocket
An Edelbrock Performer will give you a big performance gain over the two barrel Rochester. A Holley 600 C.F.M. carb would also be excellent. I also like center-mount float's and vacuum sec and a electric choke, secondary metering block's with jet's make tuning a snap on the holley, good luck on the Old's I used to own a 74 with a Rocket 350 . It was a pretty torquey car.

While you're at it, look at the matching Performer series Edelbrock 600cfm 4-bbl. Lots of folks are running that instead of the Holley.

A set of 1 5/8" header's and a good free flowing 2.25" exhaust would really help thing's out also. This way you could utilize the extra flow from the new intake set up.

One of my first mods was to put a shift kit in the tranny on a completely stock motor ,needless to say I have been hooked ever since!! When u are young and do not know, it feels like u just put Warren Johnsons motor in ur ride, a few extra rrrrs and the kick when it shifts ohhhh yeah! unfortunatly the truth be told alll the over revin slowed the car way down, but it felt and sounded like there was a major difference!lolIts gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)
