    Holley Blue Noob

     



    Ok i have it installed...relays all wired up, oil kill switch in place just incase....now the reg is set to 14psi which i know is to high....so should i start with 5 1/2 and see how she acts?....
    where is a good place to start for psi?.

    Denny, I am running 4 1/2 PSI on my tri-power. Anything over that seems to overpower the Rochesters.

    I guess i could have given you guys a little more info.

    496, 10:1, 850 Mighty Demon, Stock fuel tank (cleaned very well though), Lagre cam (it is a custom grind and comp forgot the cam cards...but its 292...as far as lift i am thinking we figured out .650? but not cant remember)

    I have been hearing set the pump to 7psi....but wouldnt that blow out the needles?....or over fill the bowls and puke fuel everywhere?

    and exscuse my ignorance...but how do you check fuel psi at WOT...i think i know how...but that would make me a little nervous...we just broke in the motor and i dont want any high revs on it yet

    I run my fuel pressure 7 psig at idle with no problems at all on my holley, always have run 7 and everyone I know around here runs 7 without any problems at all on their holley's or demons or BG's.

    I run 7-7.5 lbs on all my 4150 and 4500 carbs. I used to run the little blue holley pumps, any more I run the Aeromotive A-2000 pumps. I like to not run lean, so I adjust until I flood the needle and cut .5 lbs off of that point. If the pressure is too high you will sink the floats, the pressure on the needle will overcome the floatation of the floats and you will overfill the bowls and bleed fuel like a stuck pig. I like to be comfortably close to this, running lean is blowing engines, and starving the engine for fuel at WOT and insane RPM's will force you to tear apart an engine that should have never failed.
