Yeah, you've got to prime the fuel system. Get your manual out. What you'll need to do is open up various fuel hose connections and bleed screws, operate the fuel pump until fuel comes out, then tighten the connection/bleed screw. You will start at the outlet of the filter and work your way towards the high pressure fuel pump. Afterwards, you may need to loosen the high pressure lines at the injectors and crank the engine until fuel comes out. Tighten them down and it will be ready to start.

Just for the heck of it, look on the side of the engine, there could be a small manual pump that primes the system, if it's there, just pull it in and out a few times and it should fire up, my dads diesel MB 240D does it when it runs out of fuel or gets to low sometimes ( fuel gauge is inacurate ) and that's all ya have to do to it to get it to run again. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Crack the injector furthest from the pump as you hand pump/turn over to bleed air, check fuel pressure, replace worn o-rings and fuel line check valve/ball.

tyler, you didn't prime the filter enough. You needed to bump the starter and let the transfer pump run out at least three times to make sure the filter is filled. You now have air in lines and need to bleed them. These guys are right, you need to crack the lines going into injector. Get ready for a mess. Usually by cracking the first line to the front of engine will get the air out. Go to www.tdr.com, your not the only one to do this.

This sounds like you lost your lift (transfer) pump. Thats why you don't have any fuel in filter. If you have changed one they are not hard and don't take long. Go to Cummins dealer and get one and install. If you never installed on go to www.dodgeorg.com, Dave Fritzs site. It has details on how to change out.
