aint wistling dixie
about 1800 to 2000 rpms a high pitched wistle on acceleration and deacceleration sounds like a vacuum leak huh

Yep vacuum. look at the vac for the booster.

since when is 1800 to 2000 rpms wot? read my previous post ... its not the belts sounds like wind wistling but higher pitched

if you dont know what you posted i sure the hell dont.
acceleration and deacceleration if you did what you said you did then the vac. would have changed enough so the noise would have changed with it.Mike

Most whistling of the type you describe are due to baseplate to main body gasket/alignment issues.

Only inside... hmmmm..
You have never said what the vehicle is... But if it's a later model all the heating and airconditioning controls under the dash are vacuum controls. Any one of a dozen things could be leaking under there and at the rpms you're talking about that's about the max vacuum. Stick your head under the dash and see if its louder.
