    Holley Carb Problem

My buddy has an 86 silverado with a 350 engine and a holley carb on it, we went to start it one morning and the starter would not and could not turn the engine over, we bought a brand new starter and still could not turn the engine over so we turned it over with a torque wrench on the damper which was way too hard so we pulled the plugs, when we pulled the plugs gasoline literally just poured out of most of the cylinders, long story short what could cause the carb to just drain all fuel into cylinders while not running?

Does it have an electric fuel pump?If it has to much fuel pressure it will push it by the needle and seat assembly.Sometimes acc. pumps set wrong will dump fuel in.I think there must be part of the story you left out if it does not have an electric pump on it.

I seen holly carbs, dribble after you cut them off, so maybe it dribbled all the gas out of the bowl, if not, if you have an elec. pump someone may have left the key on and the pump filled the motor up. did it crank and run ok after you cleaned all the gas up?

It has a stock mechanical fuel pump on the block, we have not yet fired it because we tore the carb apart to check for bad needles or seats or anything that doesn't look right, one of the floats was way out of adjustment but that was about it, now we are going to rebuild it today with a full rebuild kit, we are also going to change the oil incase any of the fuel managed to seap passed the rings, we also need new plugs as we had to break two of them off because of shitty header manufactures that don't bend them right to get half the plugs out unless you have a thousand and one differant wrenches or something.
Would a stuck needle or seat cause the gas to drain into the cylinders?

for gas to get out of the carb. bowl to the motor the gas has to run up hill, and that pretty hard to do sitting still and the motor not running.
