I once read that shorter runners would boost top end...but have never seen anything shorter then stock...

i'm thinking of putting in a larger cam right now i have a 500 510 lift with votec heads,1.6 rockers stock intake, runners, 24lbs. injectors and stock throttle body. any sugestions on what i can change.. that will make a differance.

you have lots of lift, and with the 1.6 rockers...wow.
as long as the valve train is not binding (check springs, read that to exceed .5 lift on vortec you needed different springs...) you are OK.
Headers or cat(s)? After cat system or is everything sotck?
An engine is an air pump - the more air you can pump through it the better.
You could try a pass with the vac line off the fule pressure regulator - it will allow slightly more fuel. If the cam has changed and the injectors/chip have not, youare probably starving for fuel on the top end.
Don't know limits of TPI system, but yes, long small diam runners (on any intake for that matter) are engineered for low rpm usage. High RPM want short runs that are large in diameter. Some intaked have been tried that have siamesed runners - 2 small diam that toghether make one large one to try and get best of both worlds.
What are you running for air cleaner/snorkel, etc? ON camaros vs firebird from best to worst design can mean 20+ HP! Now you gonna ask which is best, aren't ya? I can look that up, but Car CRaft did an article on TPI not too long ago.Chris

yes life is hard, when it get tough we go home. hey chip has been done. i'll take it to get dino and find out what's up.. no air restriction. msd dist, msd box, hi ignitn coil, fuel press set at 45. i've heard that tpi systems like low rpms. so how can i get belowwwww 14.02 i've hit my head against the wall several times ...i"m okay now... duration 210 220

d00d, your seup is made for torque. To improve your times, what you need todo is put better gears in the rear end.
Alright if you have an auto tranny you got a 3.23, which means you need a 3.73.
If you have a manual you have a 3.42, then put a 3.92 in and it'll improve your times.
You can get these, they aren't hard to install, for less that $200, usually around $150. try http://www.summitracing.com . After this your high amount of torque will tranform your RWHP to something way higher when dyno'd.
Currently i am building the same setup. I have the vortec kit from SDPC, and the 350 just sitting around waiting to be built after i get all the parts. i need the 350 injectors, the aftermarket runners, headers, and to port my plenum. The i'll be shitting out horsepower like nothing before.
