If it's an HEI ignition and a carb, all you will have to do is supply power from the ignition switch to the + terminal on the distributor. If the engine is EFI, you've got a wiring nightmare on your handsLast edited by Dave Severson; 02-26-2006 at 10:05 PM.

then just connect the powered side of the ignition to the + terminal on the HEI distributor----it is an HEI, and not a points type distrubutor, right????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

HEI will have a huge cap. Points will have a small cap. Besides that, if you peek inside, the contacts or points will be plainly visible on the breaker plate. The HEI will have a set of timing teeth, the points will have a cam.
I think dude before meant to say if it is EFI then wiring could be a problem. If it is EFI ( electronic fuel injection ) then the easiest solution is to swap the entire wiring harness from the donor vehicle..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
