ok so I just got 85 s10 blazer it has one of those there solid cams. i started to adjust that there lash just cause to make sure everthing is in par before i put on the road. my question is even after they are adjusted will it still sound like one dem sewing machine. imo they are not that far out of adjustment anyway and it sounds like one dem sewing machine. its rather annoying but is it normal.

Try to find out whose cam is in the motor, call the mfg and find out the proper lash for that cam. If you run it too tight, you'll burn valves. If too loose, it'll make too much noise and if really loose, it could start beatin' things up like the rockers and valve stems.

If you can't determine the lash from the mfg, lash 'em at 0.025" hot, that's a safe figure.

yup, solid cams make a lotta noise... you'll totally get used to it after a while.... i used to run a gear drive in one of my 69 galaxies and after a while i didn't hear it anymore, but people were always telling me they think my water pump is going out
just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
