timing trouble.. i think
hey im new to hot rodding and i just replaced the intake manifold gasket on my 53 chevy. when i put the distributor back in, it would not fire. come to find out i was 180 degrees off, now it fires but has a miss, seems like it has to much time but if i turn dist. any farther clockwise it tries to die, also dies on me when i try to take it for a drive. any suggestions?

Whats your total timing set at now? Do you have your wires on right for both your distributor and plugs?Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

thanks alot for that i needed that diagram. i think this could also possibly be a vacum leak, yes? if so (without any tools) whats the easiest way to check my vacum? hope these aren't dumb questions. thanks for all the help. The reason I think it might be a vacum leak is because it is to advanced but when i try to slow it down it sputters.
