    running methanol/gasoline mixture???

I have some methanol at home and I wanted to try running a 10% methanol blend in my hot rod. I thought this might help with my detonation problem at heavy throttle since methanol has such a high octane equivalence. I'm also running a little on the rich side and I figured it would help lean it closer to stoich since methanol needs richer jetting than gas.
Are there any reasons why this would be detrimental?
Also, if I were to switch completely, would switching to a meth carb be the only necessary change?

Methanol can cause problems with non compatible rubber and plastic parts in your fuel system, if you don't know you can drain the system before storage and run regular gasoline thru it

On a related subject I here more & more about E-85. I haven't seen E-85 offered locally yet, but I've thought of buildin' to run the stuff if it become available @ enough local stations.
