Unhappy Bad Edelbrock or bad engine?

Please Help! I have put a 67mod 400cid in my 74 Firebird. It came from the US and had been rebuilt and tuned there in 2002. When i first put it in it ran good, but after a while it started bogging, one of the jets in the Edelbrock 750 carb was clogged. It still did burnouts effertlesly, but bogged. I rinsed the jet (and the reservoires) and it stopped bogging, but it lost its oomph... wheels dont even sqeek. It stil does a decent 0-60, but nowhere near the "beast" it was at first. Is there anything in the carb that easely breakes when opened?? Any suggestions are greately appriciated!

from the way that you stated the performance coming and going,i'd say that you might have a carb problem or you may have a plugged exhaust problem. maybe you could ckeck the pressure in the exhaust and make sure that it isn't blocked, if it isn't blocked then i would overhaul the carb (maybe dirt in it) good luck

Thanks! I have had it open 2 times since the problem started, just to check, but everything looks ok. Are there any specific parts that i change? or is there a standard rebuild kit for the carb?

On the front of your carb on the bottom left there should be a set of numbers Get them and contact Edelbrock they have kits for each carb. Good luck You can get Edelbrock on line too.

have you checked your fuel filter? if the filter was doing its job there shouldn't be any trash in the carb.

The filter looks good, but its a metal mesh, and im not quite shure if its fine enough.. Might put in a finer one inline. just to avoid the first problem again.

look in the gas tank there is a screen on the pickup in the tank may have junk on it.wash and blow out all carb parts with air you may have a air bleed plugged i wash the card with paint thinner and let some parts swim in it for over nigth the metering needles where the set up springs are they are on power valve bodys the bodys may be sticking in the well have seen this take out wash and you may have to used a fine 3m gray pad on the bodys
