well i just bought the truck. as far as i know its stock with headers. do u think it could be the fuel pump?No body messes with the Night Rider

mecahnical or electric pump? also need to know how much mileage, what year, what carb do you have on it? if its a stock fomoco carb thats instant replace it sign right there.... borrow or rent a fuel pressure gauge, check fuel pressure to find out what the output is... should be about 5-7lbs, also check for volume coming out. btw a 390 is not a small block its an FE series which are considered a big blockjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

well its mechanical, and no more than 100,000m the motor was not original with the truck and dont know the year. the carb is a 2 barrel I was thinking it could be bad gas so i put a couple of gallons of fresh gas in it also a fresh tune up. btw what does FE mean and whats the differenceNo body messes with the Night Rider

FE's are in my opinion notoriously cold blooded and don't run well until warm. They are also one of my favorite engines. Yours sounds carb related in respect to how the choke is set.Ken Thomas

sounds like a carb problem..... idle circuit might not be functioning properly or maybe not even adjusted right........ could have obstruction in the float bowl or fuel filter... or could be improper choke function as well.... is it an electric choke or a heat pipe? if its the heat pipe it might need adjusting, if its electric check to see if its getting powerLast edited by thesals; 01-12-2007 at 07:37 PM.

get that choke functioning.... it needs a 12v power source thats on when the key is on and a good solid ground..... see if that changes anything.... recheck ignition as denny said... if you do both and you still have problems its time to start checking for vacuum problems, and fuel supply problems....just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

i just bought a new edl. intake and edl. carb. would it be possible to reuse the gaskets on the truck now for the intake, or would i have to buy new ones?No body messes with the Night Rider

make sure to check your intake manifold instructions before you buy new gaskets as well.... sometimes aftermarket intakes specify which gasket part number to use which can save you a lot of headaches later onjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
