    Great! Thanks for the help. Would it possible to line up the rotor tip and the reluctor tip with the distributor out of the car? Seems to me as long as they are aligned, it should work (dist. housing will be turned to time engine anyway). Thanks again!

    Ok, i'm about to call myself a dumb ass twice in one day. The rotor mount plate and reluctor are attached. They haven't gone out of phase with each other. The only thing moving is where that whole assembly is pressed to the shaft. That prob explains why the car still ran and the timing could be reset... Looks like a couple spot welds will save the day...
