throttle body spacer?
Anyone ever use a throttle body spacer? I am trying to pick up some off idle. I have wondered about increasing the air velocity and was looking for some experience with them. Can they be stacked? Say a pair of 1" spacers, etc......what will this do for fuel line length. I am TBI so I need fuel pressure! Any thoughts would help.

Please don't go there. Increasing distance between throttle plates and plenum creates a "Lag". I am positive you have another issue causing your condition. Possibly Improper fuel pressure, Bad or weak MAP sensor, Could even go as far down the line as a O2 sensor. It's not air distribution at this point it's a problem elsewhere and you will not always see a "check engine" light and can still suffer performance problems. Off idle will not be improved as "My humble opinion" goes.Last edited by nitrowarrior; 04-03-2007 at 05:20 PM.

This is a fresh rebuild with a very mild cam, installed straight up, because the stocker needed replaced. 112LSA 206/212 @ 0.050 and .434/.444" at the valve. I am running just over 9.25:1 static CR and 17" Hg at idle and 19" at 1000 RPM.
I have a small list going against me but my budget is getting tight. I am looking to get good info before spending more $. I am using factory '89 GM TBI, manifold and have not updated my chip. Also have factory torque converter. Don't really need big Hp just want to pep it up off idle if I can.Last edited by threearmsinjune; 04-03-2007 at 06:22 PM.

Good combo. Find the fuel or what ever problem first. This is a very workable situation for your needs. MAP, TPS, O2?.....keep it simple.

sensors?
I am wondering about possibly the throttle position sensor or maybe the IAC which si controlled by the ECM.............if they are in good working order is it time to look at a chip? Any suggestions? Should I call JET with my combination?Last edited by threearmsinjune; 04-04-2007 at 06:39 PM.

It's a;ways good to start with basics and fundamentals. It's usually simple fixes that do not cost much.
