    Question Q-Jet Flote to high?

ok I have a 1967-68 750 Q-Jet "by carter" and i am just going to make sure before I rip it apart but i think my float is set a little to high. it will start up fine cold just give it 3 pumps and it will fire right up. but if I drive it a round for a little bit shut it off for 5 min turn it over and it pouts a little like it is flooded and starts to run. "if I pump the gas it will blow some block smoke" when it is running I looked down the primaries barrels and I don't see any gas dripping.
But when I turn it off I can see some thing that may be leaking.

    P.S. I did J/B the lead plugs
The starter turns over strong when hot
Initial timing is set to 17°
I have my idle set to 800Rpms

    # on the carb 7028212 C8 DH i think it was off a 1967-68 327/350 I am going to run to the store after work and get a kit at Advance Auto Parts # "96-552" for a 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 and 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle 327.

Just want to make sure I know what to look out for when I am doing this.
