    Question 305 V6 help

I have a 305 V6 engine with 150,000 miles on it. I have been wanting to replace the stock 2 barrel carb with a 4 barrel. I also want a performance intake manifold. I need some help or advice on trying to locate a shop or catalog where i could find a manifold for the rare V6.

FYE on 305 E V6's, they are Big Block V6's, the E makes 165 HP @ 3800 RPM, the Bore is 4.25 and the stroke is 3.58 and the Compression ratio is 7.75 to 1. I did see a GMC BB V6 get a special intake to mount a Holley 4bbl carb but, I cannot find the site now. Your engine should be a 305E cause it replaced the 305D in 1963. Oh, I just found that site I was talking about BUT, it is a Holley 2bbl 500CFM carb on a stock manifold and get this, it was the same site I JUST GOT ALL THAT OTHER INFO FROM... Just from the GMC V6 engine Performance upgrades section instead of engine specifications section. Here it is http://www.6066gmctrucks.org/performance.htm it's recomended for performance upgrade on these motors, it's the only performance upgrade I know of for these old GMC BB V6's

Thanks for all the info. i was at all the local Hot rod shops and evrybody pretty much laughed at me. i had to send one guy outside to see for himself that it is a 6 and not an eight cylinder. He couldn't believe it. pretty soon everyone in the shop was outside looking at it and laughing. They couldn't find anything for it either. Everyone told me to drop a 350 or stroker engine in it. well thanks again

I can sympathise with youre peoblems. Everyone up here looks at me like I have lobsters crawling out of my ears when I say I have a 305 V-6. And I have also literally had to drag a guy out into the parking lot to make him belive me that it is a V-6 instead of V-8. My truck is a 1969 GMC 4X4 K-1500
