    George,

I have a 540 with a Hilborn (that I am getting closer to firing)-

I think you know this, but the Borla is the old Inglese system-IMHO, I think there are some good things about it:

    -Integral water manifold

-Vacuum manifold made into Valley plate

What I don't care for (and this is personal preference) is the Fast EFI-IK don't know what Transmission you are running, but if you are running an Electronic shift (4L80E for instance), you will need to buy a piggyback Controller from Fast to run it (CAN)-

    Why I like Hilborn:

-If you buy a complete System like I did, they will sell you a Weldon Pump, Filters and Fuel Regulator-again, personal preference, but I think Weldon offers about the best Fuel System components out there-there is a reason they supply Aircraft-

-Hilborn will sell you a FAST system, but I would strongly suggest you look at their Holley offerings-if you are running an electronic controlled transmission you can get the Holley Dominator EFI (with integral Trans control), or, you can get the HP that doesn't have it and save some money

-I am using the Data logging feature on the Holley-basically, you can track (and control) many things (Fan control, Fuel Pump, Nitrous, Traction control and so much more)-I have a paddle shifter in my Car, and you can even control that with the Holley-

Hilborn uses Injector Dynamics Injectors, and I believe they are the best out there-

You can also program the Holley for sequential injection (something I am doing, and I would really recommend you look into this)-however, I think the FAST will do this also-

You do have to make (Fab)some things with the Hilborn (there aren't any ready-made throttle brackets or water manifold brackets for instance), but I think it's one of those things that comes with owning a Hilborn -

I am running a Hooley DIS (Distributorless Ignition System)-basically this is a crank trigger with 4 waste-fire Coils that put out more Amps than an MSD does-this is an option, you don't have to run it, but it will give you rock steady ignition timing

Lots to talk about here-either system ain't cheap though-

Sounds like you are doing your Homework-I did a lot, and I thi8nk the Hilborn is the best System out there!

Thank you for the info. I was most concerned putting rectangular intake manifold port on the oval heads. Am told using both types of gaskets (lining up oval and rectangular gaskets with appropriate sealant will allow this misfit to occur without leaks or loss of significant air flow thus power. Will plan to use Aeromotive phantom in tank fuel pump with post pump filter. Borla has an inclusive system with exception of pressure gauge and need to plug an O2 sensor in the exhaust header. Also expect the need to change out distributor (large headed mechanical) although if space allows could lock it and still use it.
Have heard the same pluses about the Holley HP. Will decide between that and the EZFast 2.0. The latter doesn't need a laptop
This is my winter project and look forward to anyone's input and experience to ease my pain

Thanks. Really appreciate the points of view on the Hilborn. Have gone with the FAST system, already fabbed the brackets and readjusting to the TV and accelerator cables as the original ones were too short. had to change the distributor to a small head and lock it . Running a r4700 tranny which does complicate matters but currently trying to make certain the throttle body is operating correctly at WOT and idle. Looks great but still anxious. Starting it up soon. Will let you know. jeff

    Borla on 502

Borla system with FAST up and running. Sounds great and seems to be in the learning mode. Need to get it outside when the snow salt and icee are gone to see how it runs. G Hicks

Very cool! Looking forward to your thoughts on how it's doing with the self learning, and some pictures would be great, too!
