stutters and chokes when I go.

Hi ya, i recently put new plugs in my charger because it was sputtering and sounded like it may be misfiring. it appears to be running better but it does tend to stutter and cough on occasion when i jump on it now and before. I tweaked with the carb and throttle screw prior to the new plug relacement thinking it was running lean. After doing so i noticed it running high RPM's at 40-45 mph (2500)

I'm wondering if actually it may be running to rich and i'm dumping to much fuel in the carbs. could this cause what is happening?

It has a beefy cam in it which in turn makes for a rough idle and i was trying to get a better running car at idle. I probably should have just left it alone.

Anyhow, I will be checking the timing on it this week to see if all is well as far as that is concerned.

any and all advice is very much appreciated.

sounds like fuel problem .....either jetting in carb or leak (air) somewhere......did you try another heat range on your plugs??...also, is there black smoke coming out exhaust??

no black smoke coming out back and i think you may be onto something about the vacuum leak. i'll check my intake for loose bolts, i know that the guy who put the intake on used incorrrect bolts (to short).

Sounds like a leak to me as well. What about wires? Get a DVOM and check them and check the distributor and make sure you have correct current.
