Parsippany, NJ (January 2008) – Dig the good ‘ol days of greased hair, rock ‘n’ roll, and tail fins? Then hop in a customized leadsled and cruise to join the coolest cats around at the biggest ‘50s bash: Lead East, Thursday August 28 – Sunday August 31, 2008 at the Parsippany, NJ Hilton Hotel and Hampton Inn.

Lead East 2008 is an oldies music and old car weekend unlike any other event held in the world. This is the 26th year for this nostalgic occasion. Like years past, they will deliver 100 percent American family and fun events celebrating the hip era of the 1950s.

Lead East is a show for 1972 and earlier vehicles, but offers more unique events than 15 car shows combined! The indoor and outdoor, day and night line-up of non-stop activities will include Sock Hops, Drive-In Movies, Cruising, Jitterbug and Swing Dancing, Doo Wop A Cappella, Prom Night, and MORE!

The term “lead” is a synonym for customized cars and this event will fill three adjacent parking lots with 1,500 classic 1972 and earlier stock restored cars, customs, lowriders, and street rods. Many are even for sale.

While there are other car events that say they are inspired by the 1950s, none come close to offering the long list of day and night, indoor and outdoor activities that provide four days of family fun like Lead East.

Unique to 2008, Lead East is bringing back the Top Chop, where a half dozen local hacksaw wizards will chop the top on a car on the spot during the event. The chopped vehicle will be auctioned or raffled off at the event with the profits going to the MAKE-A-WISH Foundation.
