Caught the first day of this year's auction on Speed last night,,, got to say that I was very (pleasantly) surprised to see how well prices are holding up on the classics and muscle cars in spite of the economy....
Also, GM is dumping about 200 of their museum pieces, some are kewl, some are just cosmetics and decals....
For the first day, I would have to say there were some very good buys to be had, and a few that went crazy high on the price...
Just wondering what you guys thought of it so far....??????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I only caught about an hour last night. but i thought the ones i seen went pretty cheap
like the 56 Chev rag Reso that went for around 28k if i recallConfusious say: He who dies with the most toys, Wins

I did see some of that Auction ? Lots of Late 40's Early 50"s 4-Door cars ? And not so many Buyer's there . Maybe more online . Also many cars have really gone down in Price . Mostly the Clone Cars . Not the Big Show Like in the Past . But it is Fun to see them car roll on and off .

Well, certainly not the cream of the crop on Tuesday night, but I thought that overall the prices were holding up rather well, all things considered. There certainly was some good deals to be had, anxious to see how the rest of the week goes.......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Goin down tomorrow afternoon,
Got 1 goin tomorrow nite and 1 on friday.
This year ought to B very interesting.When I get to where I was goin, I forgot why I went there>

The Bird should be one of the highest sellers this year. Just the sort of thing a car collector can brag about! Number one cars rarely get out to the public, and there is only one "first T-Bird"!

I only caught one segment, and then only a part of that hour. A two tone '66or 7 Nova street machine hit the deck and I guessed it would go around $30k, actually hit 32, so not too bad. Crowds are always light the first and second days. By Thursday there should be more activity there, and Friday/Sat will tell the real tale. It's a buyers market out there so desirable stuff will still pull the good buck, the less so won't do as well. If they're still on the "no reserve" policy there could be more people buying back their own car if the buyers don't agree on how nice it is. That GM heritage stuff is tough to predict as there's not much to compare to...........a pure emotion market there. The guy that bought the active suspension Vette and the Earnhardt prototype Monte is a dealer out of Georgia, so he must figure he can turn 'em.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I don't remember them televising tuesday nite before...I didn't think the started that till thursday before...I like watching the "cheapies" as well as the high dollar Saturday night stuff...I remember when hot rods were all home made.

I agree with Bob that Fri and Sat will be the real indicator, but I also don't see the amount of potentially really high dollar cars on the program that we have seen in the past.
The cars like the AS Vette and Earnhart Monte were probably really good investments if you can afford to hold onto them for a reasonably siginificant amount of time.
Anyone besides me already tired of the term "freestyle" (last year it was re-creation).I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

WOW!!! Did anybody see that '64 Fury with the Max Wedge and dual fours go for $28K????? Had the new Mopar Block in it, but a very, very nice crossram with 4 barrels and an immaculate body!!!!! What a car!

what kinda suprised me was the 1918 cad for 32k I thought the purest would run that up over 100k and then that 56 chevy 210 post car with the roof cut off and that hidious interior goes for 45k go figure was some nice 40s and 50s pick up I thought were realy good buys oh well what do I know .....tedI'LL KEEP MY PROPERTY, MY MONEY, MY FREEDOM, AND MY GUNS, AND YOU CAN KEEP THE CHANGE------ THE PROBLEM WITH LIBERALISM IS SOONER OR LATER YOU RUN OUT OF OTHER PEOPLES MONEY margaret thacher 1984
